media attachments should open to a pop-out modal, rather than opening in a new tab.

this UI should accommodate using the left and right arrow keys or a mobile swipe gesture to navigate between the icons.
a user should be able to exit the modal by clicking/tapping outside of the media, or via an "X" or "close" button in the corner of the screen.
